Under the Stars
Tues 19th Dec 1916
Dear People.
At last I have arrive at the place for which I set out & as it is not allowed us to mention any names you must use your own judgement as to my present whereabouts. Perhaps by the time this reaches you certain happenings may draw you attention to places very close to the present position. Arrived here on Sunday night the removal from the base although expected was sudden had a halt of about two days on the way. Of course one has to be a cook as well as anything else here so between one thing & another one is kept dodging along. Every morning the enemy aircraft come over & drop some parcels with varied successes very often doing no harm. Had a run over to the Regiment that Lindsay is in this afternoon but as he was not at home did not see him but saw a few of the other boys of his reinf. Tell Jack Thompson I saw his brother today unless he had come up to me & spoken I am sure I would not have known him of course it is about seven or eight years since I saw him so it is no wonder there is a change. He is looking very well as most of the chaps here are at present but one cane see they had it pretty hot in the summer. Mails have been following us up for over a week now just get to a place & expect mail & move on the day it is due to arrive. How ever it must catch up now as for the present I am about as far as far as it can go.
