Dear Mary

You will be thinking that I am putting in the most of my time in Hospitals.  I seem to be getting all those complaints which I managed to escape in N.Z. it is the “Mumps” this time; the Hornchurch Camp has closed down & so I was sent over here & have been here over two weeks now I expect to be getting out again about the end of this week.  this is a branch of the “Walton-on-Thames” Hosp. which is about two miles from here; it is rather pretty about here just at present, the trees are coming into leaf, while

Daffodils & Primroses are the principal spring flowers, spring only really commenced about the beginning of this month, although it is called summer time as the clocks were advanced an hour from that time.  I received your letter No 21. last week.  You will probably get some word to say when I will be leaving for America before you get this letter I am hoping to get away on leave as soon as I am discharged from Hosp.  I should have been away now if I hadn’t taken these Mumps.  The weather has been very good here for the “Easter” holidays.  I wonder how it is N.Z. just now, I suppose the harvest will be in full swing around Southland at the present time, I don’t think I missed very much by missing

the summer over there this year, it ought to be considerably better next season.  I had a nice trip through from Hornchurch by Motor Ambulance car; it was on a sunday so there wasn’t much traffic in London we came right through the centre of the City.  I have a number of London views which I may post over to you I want you to keep for me any views that I send over from now on, I have quite a number of P.Cards Photo’s now & expect to have many more before I’m finished but they gradually fill up space & make extra weight.  I may have to post some books home too if I find that I haven’t too much room for them in my bag, no more news just now will have more next time, haven’t received the Farmers with Flu. death roll in them yet.
