“I must frankly admit now that I am not surprised to hear that Charl. has enlisted, I have kind of felt it coming for a long time. Several times I have been on the point of writing & telling him not to come unless it was absolutely necessary that he should do so. However now that he has cast in his lot, we can only hope for the best, but I am still of the opinion that there are hundreds still in N.Z. who should be out here before it was necessary for him to hand in his name.”
