Last major battle of the Palestine campaign
The Battle of Megiddo resulted in a decisive British victory in Palestine. Much effort had been put into convincing the Ottoman forces that the Allied forces were still in the Jordan Valley and planning an attack from there. Meanwhile the forces were mounting in the coastal sector preparing for a surprise offensive.
The New Zealand Mounted Rifles Brigade and the Anzac Mounted Division played significant roles throughout the offensive, including the capture of Es Salt on the 23rd September. By the 26th September the Battle of Megiddo was over.
