Ernie McIntyre – Letter 38

Thurs 2/9/1915,

Here I am again just about 8 hours after posting a letter home.  I went to the post office to post the home mail, & at the same time received some that had been sent on from Dundee.  Amongst some English letters was the wire you sent from home, very pleased to get it.  I have managed to pick up another spoon, not a bad sample I think.  The meaning of the motto I do not know for the man in the shop could not give it me.  It however bears the Inverness “Coat of Arms” which is the main object of interest.  Trust it will reach home all right.  Had a very interesting day in & around Inverness.  It is a very pretty town indeed, not over large, reminds one a bit of Dunedin.

The weather was not as favourable as it might have been, a very nice morning but came on showery in afternoon, despite that fact the surroundings impressed themselves upon me very much.  I am thinking of going to a place called Iinvergordon on Saturday, & coming back by water, if I can manage it the trip will take me through the middle of the grand fleet.  Have not made any new acquaintances in Inverness yet, although I have an address or two in my pocket, which I promised to look up.  Well now I will put the stopper in.  Au rêvoir for the present.

Your Sincere,
Brother E.S.
