Ernie McIntyre – Letter 68

Aberdeen T&C.
Monday  Morn.
19/6/16

Am spending my last few hours of my first week end leave from Salisbury very quietly at Hoopers.  Since arriving the grass has not been allowed to grow under our feet, for we have been racing round at high speed.  London is just perfect at this time of year, trees & all are looking so gorgeous.  It was pretty when I was here in August but it is ten times more gorgeous now.  Hoopers haven’t changed the slightest little bit.  Sent them a wire at mid–day to say I was coming at 6 in the evening.  Was going to ring them up from Waterloo to see if it was convenient  for me to come along.  When I got that far Mrs. Hooper was there to meet me, & of course no need for further argument.  Am send you the choice bits from France, they are rather good.  Will write first mail from Salisbury.  It is a splendid camp & we are very comfortable in huts, did not expect to strike anything so good.  We, the Hoopers and self are all going into London for lunch.  Going to a little old quaint luncheon house somewhere in Fleet St. Something about Dickens time.  Matter of fact are first of all going to Dickens old curiosity shop, fancy it still in existence.  Aurêvoir just now.

Affect. Brother E.S.McI.
