Your letters 3. & 4. I got on arriving here Sat. evening last. I got that 28 days leave after all. I went to H.Q. in London to see if I couldn’t get leave before reporting back to camp as I thought it would be suit me as well to have it now as later on & so I had no difficulty in getting it & they put me on the boat list for N.Z. but I won know when I will be likely to sail until I get back to Sling as I have to report back to the Camp there by Sun. next 15th. I have just

had a very enjoyable trip through the Highlands of Scotland and also the Lowlands, the country is looking very find just now & the weather has been perfect for touring only two showers of rain since I left; they say it has been the dryest May they have had for many years the farmers are wanting rain now badly; no doubt the woods are all very pretty in early summer with their pale green leaves while travelling through the Highlands I saw vast patches of yellow primroses, & violets, the violets are pale blue in colour and have no smell. I visited most of our relations again in the south & found them all

well they think that I am having quite a gay time of it getting so much leave and free railway passes & I guess I have been fortunate in that respect, they are quite busy in this house just now with boarders yesterday (Whit Mon) was a big day at the seaside great crowds come down from Newcastle and round about, there was a circus here yesterday also; there were some very good performers at it. Uncle has gone into Newcastle to day to collect his house rent, he & I are going in one of these days to have a look round I haven’t had a day in Town with him yet, he received

just lately a Photo of Bob from Bill, apparently he had mentioned the matter to Bill some time when he wrote, I am posting another batch of Post Card Photo’s from here they bulk up so much that I think it is the best thing to do with them. I have some down in London still which I must get away when I go back. I also sent some away from Aberdeen. Am enclosing some wild flowers which I picked when up in the Highlands. I hope this find you all in good health.
