Dear Violet
You will be thinking I am a long time in answering your letter, at least, I don’t remember writing to you since. I got your Mother’s letter a few days ago alright. We are going back to Awapuni tomorrow after being here for over a month. The Hospital here closed up yesterday until after the Races are over. I once thought that we would have to go away on Sat. next from N.Z as the 35th Reinforcements are supposed to be sailing then, but, it is quite evident now that we are not going with them now, that is if they sail up to time; if we had been going with them

we would have been away from here before this; anyhow, it is said now that we are going with the 36ths in April. And how have you been getting on since you wrote last? perhaps you will be learning to swim by this time in that new dam: I hope you are getting some good warm weather for it. We have had some very warm weather up here lately and we have been over several times bathing in the Tauherenikau River (small stream) it is quite close to where we are here; I only wish I had this chance every day for a month or two then, I believe I would be able to swim a little. I had a letter from Auntie Aggie since she went to “Fernhills”

she said she saw your Mother & Co. in Invercargill. Are you going to get any harvest holidays this year? I suppose you will be having them soon now if you are going to have any at all. Well Violet, I really cant find anything more to write about just now; there isn’t very much news in a camp that one can write about. so I will bid you goodbye for the present with love to you all . Yours Sincerely
Uncle Jack.
