Dear May
We have made another shift & are camped on the [censored] of the [censored]. It is barely out of sight of our last camp but I can say now that I have been on three of the 6 continents. This is a lovely job & is just like a sea-side holiday after the heavy work we have been doing. We do no drill & spend most of our time bathing [censored] & playing about on the sand. The food is good – for breakfast we had porridge, fried bacon & bread cheese & jam. Every day a native dealer comes to the other [censored] with 3 or 4 camels laden with goods & a couple of our men row across for him & we can buy almost anything we want. He does a big trade in tinned fruit at 7 1/2 piasters a tin. Altogether we are having a real picnic here & don’t care how long it lasts but I am afraid we will be relieved before long. There is very little news except of a military nature & not much of that.
Love to All
Len
