Dear Mother,
We have halted here for a day or two on our way to Cologne so I am doing a bit of writing while I have the chance. There is a rumour that we are to take the train from here but we’ve heard those rumours before & I expect we will have to march all the way. I am getting a bit sick of this being messed about & wouldn’t mind if I could get out of it now that the job is finished. They have stacks of reinfts to carry on with the garrison work. Have had a touch of trench fever this week, have been able to manage the marching but am thinking of seeing the old Quack on the off chance that I might get away with it. If you happen to hear that I’ve managed to land Hosp. you will know it is nothing serious. It would be alright if I could

get to Blighty for Xmas. Have received No 60 from May, also yours of Oct 6th & one from Ruth. I have told them to expect the dried fruits for Xmas. I think the pcl should get through in time. From our last halting place I posted a good sized bundle of p.c’s of places we’ve passed through, also a few others of interest. I don’t think the collection will grow very much bigger now. Don’t think I told you that we had a visit from the King a while ago, he attended our church service at Bavay. The P.O.Wales & Prince Arthur & several others were there. I don’t think there is any more news.
Love to All
Len
Enclose letter for May, wrote it some time ago & have just discovered it among some old papers.
